Feels like Fall

We just got back from a family vacation to the North Carolina mountains. Where the colors were beautiful and the weather was cool and really cold one day. We stayed in Boone NC at a KOA camp ground in a cabin. We went to Grandfather Mountain one day and visitied other cities near by. We had to find things to do inside on Friday since it rained all day and night. Which in towns that are geared for all outdoor fun, is hard to find. We saw a movie and then went to a family entertainment spot called Bo's, where we bowled and played in the arcade.
I enjoyed spending time with my family away from phones, TV's and fast paced life. It seems that the more that I experience life like that, I sense God telling me that we are way too busy with stuff that doesn't matter. And I find myself longing to be in those places more and for longer periods of time. I enjoyed playing cards at night and laughing until we almost wet our pants :-)
Here are some interesting things we learned and experienced:
One morning getting breakfast we encountered some seasoned men and struck up conversation with them. They taught us that in the mountains:
A paper bag is called a poke
A baby chicken is called a diddle
We enjoyed talking to them, they were very nice and helpful.
We also learned that you go to Grandfather mountain early - the lines to get in were unbelievable as were leaving. It seemed that most places that we stopped to eat or do something, right after we got there it got really busy. We got to hike and climb, not as much as we would have liked, but that is ok. We drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was breath taking. Thanks for reading and keeping in touch with us.
